This book will actually change your life
This book is for the girl who wants to quit her job and start an interior design shop in LA. It's for the intern who knows her *ish but doesn't feel confident speaking up in company meetings. It's for the college grad wondering if she has what it takes to work on Wall Street and kill it. It's for the #girlbosses out there whose soul is leading them to a life of passion and happiness, but they don't have the confidence to dive in head first.
If you've ever reflected on your life and realized you aren't living the life that you want, this book is for you. It's called You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life, written by Jen Sincero (check out her website here and follow her on Twitter here).
To put it shortly it is the self help book to end self help books. Jen waded through the endless pool of self help techniques to weed out the truths that are buried within various self help systems, and tested how she could use these techniques to achieve her goals in life. Long story short: she did the hard part for us. And none of her final truths are things like 'make sure you graduate college first' or 'find a good partner and get married'. Her advice is so much more universal, things like 'To kick ass you have to lift your foot off the ground'.
Regarding the title of this post... yes it's sincere. I read this book and it changed my life. It gave me the confidence and drive to finally stop doing what I was supposed to be doing and start doing what I makes my soul happy. I quit an industry I didn't love and completely changed my career path. So far... no regrets! Who knew a couple hundred pages could have such an incredible impact?
So I'll ask, is there something you want to do but haven't? Is it because you are afraid to fail? Are you lacking the self confidence to own your life decisions?
Then READ THIS BOOK.
Here's another glimpse of the magic in those pages:
'You are perfect. To think anything less is as pointless as a river thinking that it’s got too many curves or that it moves too slowly or that its rapids are too rapid. Says who? You’re on a journey with no defined beginning, middle or end. There are no wrong twists and turns. There is just being. And your job is to be as you as you can be. This is why you’re here. To shy away from who you truly are would leave the world you-less. You are the only you there is and ever will be. I repeat, you are the only you there is and ever will be. Do not deny the world its one and only chance to bask in your brilliance.'
Let's just swoon in that last line for a moment.
Do not deny the world its one and only chance to bask in your brilliance.
Have I sold you yet? Good. I would never recommend a book if I didn't really believe it was worth the effort of reading. You can run out to your nearest bookstore, or if you want to help support my blog you can purchase it through my Amazon affiliate link (thank you to those who do!)
